You may ask – what is AEO?
AEO is internationally recognised and awarded by HMRC. AEO status demonstrates that your role within the Global Supply Chain is secure. It is an accreditation in which the business must undertake a series of rigorous audits conducted by HMRC. AEO measures the controls, shipping procedures, security, compliance, financial solvency and fulfilment of the relevant legal and safety regulations.
But what are the true benefits of AEO?
It acts as a quality standard where many large organisations demand this quality approval as a prerequisite for any trade lines. Never has this been more important with the pending implications of Brexit, as HMRC customs priorities will be granted for AEO holders. This means that non-certified organisations will be dealt with as a secondary concern.
So, the bottom line is; who do you want to administer your freight requirements? Is your supply chain willing to compromise with non-certified companies, who will be treated by HMRC as secondary?
